Synopsis
Swayambhu Buddha Park (also known as Buddha Amideva Park) is the site of Nepal’s largest statue of Buddha. Measuring 67 feet tall, the central statue that dominates the landscape is of Shakyamuni Buddha, the historical Buddha who began life as Siddhartha Gautama. He holds a giant bowl in his hands, which contains the nectar of immortality. To the left of Shakyamuni Buddha is the 64-foot-tall Chenrezig (also known as Avalokitesvara) and to the right is is Guru Rinpoche (aka Guru Padmasambhava), “The Precious Master.”
