Synopsis
The Lathmar Holi, also known as the Holi of Sticks, is an annual traditional celebration held in the town of Nandgaon. According to Hindu texts, Nandgaon was the childhood home of Krishna, a major deity in Hinduism. The festival is part of the larger Hindu festival of Holi, which celebrates the arrival of spring.During this celebration, the men of Nandgaon visit Barsana and playfully attempt to take over the temple of Radhika Ji while being beaten with sticks by the women of Barsana. The following day, the men of Barsana come to Nandgaon carrying the flag of the Larily Lal Temple, and a mock battle between the men of Barsana and the women of Nandgaon takes place.Footage filmed March 2023.
