Synopsis
Langza, located at an altitude of 14500 feet, is one of the most remote villages in India. The village has two parts, the lower Langza Yongma and the upper Langza Gongma, which houses the Lang, the local village temple. The village, often referred to as the Fossil Village of India due to the abundance of marine fossils found in the area, is known for its distinctive houses constructed in Tibetan style architecture and the snow-capped Chau Chau Kang Nilda peak that adorns its landscape majestically. This mountain was first climbed in 1939 by J.O.M. Roberts (James Owen Roberts Merion).
