Synopsis
Ghats - a series of steps leading down to water - are a common sight in India. For thousands of years, people have used them to bathe or release ashes into various bodies of water. Yamuna Ghat is one such place. It is situated near a cremation ground in a historic part of Delhi along one of India’s most sacred rivers. At dawn, hundreds of seagulls flock to feed, creating a breathtaking scene with their reflection on the still water blended with the colours of the sunrise. Just across from the ghat is an island of untouched marshland that renders Delhi as it was hundreds of years ago, lush and misty. Unfortunately, the Yamuna is also one of the most polluted rivers in the world.
