Synopsis
The city of Pushkar in northern India is a pilgrimage site for Hindus and Sikhs. It has many temples and is particularly sacred to Shaktism. Pushkar Lake, on whose shore the city is located, has many ghats where pilgrims bathe. The city is also significant for its Gurdwaras for Guru Nanak and Guru Gobind Singh. The most famous temple in Pushkar is the red-spired Brahma Temple. Pushkar is famous for its annual Pushkar Camel Fair, held over seven days in autumn, which attracts nearly 200,000 people.
