Synopsis
The Bengal tiger (Panthera tigris tigris) is the largest member of the cat family. It is most commonly found in India, which is home to 70 per cent of the world's tiger population. The Bengal tiger's habitat includes hot and humid forests and wetlands. The species is classified as 'Endangered' on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species (2021).
