Synopsis

Khajuraho is a city in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, known for its medieval Hindu and Jain temples which are famous for their Nagara-style architecture and some erotic sculptures. Most were built between 885 CE and 1000 CE by the Chandela dynasty. The temple complex had 85 temples by the 12th century, but only about 25 have survived. The Kandariya Mahadeva Temple is decorated with intricate sculptures that showcase ancient Indian art. This popular tourist destination has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1986 and is considered one of the seven wonders of India.Nandi is the name for the bull which serves as the mount of the god Shiva and as the gatekeeper of Shiva and Parvati. In Hindu Religion, he is the chief guru of eighteen masters (18 Siddhar) including Patanjali and Thirumular. Temples venerating Shiva display stone images of a seated Nandi, generally facing the main shrine.
