St Mary's Harbour on the Scilly Islands
Timelapse and handheld shots of boats in St Mary's harbour, including the RMV Scillonian III passenger ferry and the temporary floating pontoon built for a visiting walrus.
Synopsis
St Mary's is the largest and most populous island of the Isles of Scilly, an archipelago off the southwest coast of Cornwall. The main harbour of St Mary's (and the Isles of Scilly) is at Hugh Town, from where the Isles of Scilly Steamship Company provides a passenger and cargo service to the UK mainland. In 2021, "Wally the Walrus", a species more commonly found in the Arctic, took up residence in the harbour. Locals built a floating pontoon for him to stop him damaging boats - a story which attracted much press attention.
