Synopsis

In India, millions of metric tons of straw is produce annually as a waste product of harvesting crops like wheat, rice and sugarcane. A large percentage of this straw is burnt to dispose of it, which releases polluting and harmful gases into the atmosphere. Strawcture is an Indian company founded by engineer Shriti Pandey, that produces eco-friendly building materials from the waste straw. These building materials are not only annually regenerative but allow the development sector to reduce their carbon footprint whilst sustaining the livelihoods of farmers. These panels have been used in the construction of hospitals, schools and many other buildings.
