Synopsis
The Greenland Ice Sheet, the second-largest ice sheet in the world, covers about 1.7 million square kilometers. It regulates the global climate by reflecting sunlight and maintaining the Earth's temperature. However, climate change is significantly impacting the Greenland Ice Sheet. Rising temperatures cause accelerated melting and thinning, leading to increased ice loss and rising sea levels. The melting ice also affects ocean currents and marine ecosystems.
