Synopsis
The Marabou Stork (Leptoptilos crumenifer) are the largest members of the Ciconiidae family and are among one of the largest flying birds. They are a social species of bird and are often found in small groups resting in big trees. Marabou storks are often drawn to urban locations as they can feed on anthropological waste in the streets, from fisheries and landfills. However, their population numbers have been observed declining due to increase urban expansion and development within the city. Other factors negatively affecting their population numbers include the use of pesticides and fertilisers, pollution from plastic and man-made structures fragmenting their habitat.
