Synopsis

The Amazon Basin is home to the Amazon River and the Amazon Rainforest. The Amazon River is the second longest river and largest drainage system in the world and stretches across the whole of South America. The Amazon Rainforest is the largest rainforest in the world and home to millions of living organisms. Deforestation, infrastructure and urban development, and climate change are among threats to the local environment.
