Synopsis
The Argentière Glacier in France is one of the larger glaciers found within the Mont Blanc mountain range. It is 5.6 miles long (9 kilometres) but, like many glaciers in the Alps, the Argentière has receded significantly in recent years. It lost an average of 3.41 metres in thickness between August 2021 and August 2022 (Journal of Glaciology, 29 Nov 2023).
