Synopsis
The Aiguille du Chardonnet (3,824 m) is a mountain in the Mont Blanc massif. It lies between the Glacier du Tour and the Argentière Glacier. The border with Switzerland runs just east of the summit. The Argentière Glacier in France is one of the larger glaciers found within the Mont Blanc mountain range. It is 5.6 miles long (9 kilometres) but, like many glaciers in the Alps, the Argentière has receded significantly in recent years. It lost an average of 3.41 metres in thickness between August 2021 and August 2022 (Journal of Glaciology, 29 Nov 2023).
