Synopsis
Kotor, a UNESCO World Heritage site located in the Boka Kotorska Bay, on the Adriatic coast of Montenegro. Kotor encompasses the old town of Kotor (Italian Cattaro), the fortifications of Kotor, and the surrounding region of the inner Bay of Kotor.Seriously damaged by an earthquake in 1979, the principal monuments and historic urban areas have been carefully restored and reconstructed with help from UNESCO, and have retained their architectural, urban, and historical authenticity.The Church of St. Nicholas, located in the old town of Kotor, is an Orthodox church built between 1902 and 1909 on the site of a Dominican monastery abandoned at the end of the 18th century.The Church of St. Luke in Boka Kotorska, Montenegro belongs to the Serbian Orthodox Church and has the traits of both Roman and Byzantine architecture.
