Macropodia rostrata, also known as the common spider crab, long-legged spider crab, long-legged crab, is a species of marine crab in the family InachidaeMaerl is a purple-pink hard seaweed that forms spiky underwater 'carpets' on the seabed, known as 'maerl beds'.Maerl beds form when calcareous red algae grow into loose nodules or occasional crusts, creating dense yet porous beds of coralline algae.
