Synopsis

The Spiny squat lobster (Galathea strigosa) look like a cross between a crab and a lobster with a long, flattened body and a tail tucked up underneath, which can be used as a paddle to escape backwards very quickly. They are common around the rocky shores of the UK, North east Atlantic, Mediterranean and Red Seas. The leopard-spotted goby (Thorogobius ephippiatus), which is covered in bright red and orange spots, is a shy and retiring species of fish native to the eastern Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. They inhabit vertical rock faces with crevices in which to hide.
