Synopsis

Deforestation in the Amazon typically involves cutting down large areas of trees and setting fires to clear th land, which is then planted with grass or soya. The Karipuna Indigenous People live in an officially protected area within the Brazilian state of Rondônia. Despite its protected status, the territory faces threats from illegal loggers. According to data from the National Institute for Space Research (INPE), the Karipuna territory lost 4,800 hectares of forest between 2017-2022.
