Synopsis
Wildebeest (Connochaetes taurinus) are members of the antelope family and are known to partake in one of the largest on-land animal migrations in the world. Each year, over one million wildebeest migrate from the Serengeti towards the Masai Mara in Kenya during the months of July to September. The wildebeest also play an important role within their ecosystem being a key prey species for larger predators such as cheetahs, lions and Nile crocodiles.
