Synopsis
Fanya Chini, or "throw it downwards" in Kiswahili, involves trenches and ridges facing downslope to protect soil from erosion. Fanya Juu, translating to "throw it upwards", is similar but includes terrace bunds and ditches to keep rainwater on the farm, enhancing water availability for crops. This method promotes land regreening.
