Synopsis
The white-footed fox (Vulpes vulpes pusilla), also known as the desert fox, is an Asiatic subspecies of the red fox. Native to the northwestern Indian subcontinent, it is typically found in arid regions, adapting well to desert environments. This fox is characterised by its relatively small size compared to other red fox subspecies, along with its distinctive pale colouring, which provides effective camouflage against the sandy desert landscape. Its feet are lighter in color, hence the name "white-footed." The white-footed fox is known for its resourcefulness and adaptability, often hunting small mammals, birds, and insects to survive in its harsh habitat. Conservation efforts are important for maintaining its population due to habitat encroachment and environmental changes.
