Trees Recovered With Kisiki Hai Technique, Kashangu Village, Tanzania
Drone footage taken in December 2023. Kashangu village is located in the Tanzanian region of Singida. Farmers have successfully recovered many previously cut-down tree stumps using the Kisiki Hai technique. Now, the farm is covered by towering trees.
Synopsis
Deforestation, land degradation, and global warming has led to an increase of dry and infertile land in many African countries.Living tree stumps can be found across Africa with the potential to re-grow into trees.Farmer Managed Natural Regeneration, also known as Treecovery or Kisiki Hai, involves selecting, pruning and protecting the stumps until they regenerate.
