Synopsis

The Kinabatangan is the second longest river in Malaysia, with a length of 560 km (350 miles) from its headwaters in the mountains of southwest Sabah to its outlet at the Sulu Sea. The river is a critical lifeline for both wildlife and local communities, and the area is known for its high biodiversity but faces significant challenges from deforestation, pollution, and increased tourism.
