Synopsis

Orangutans, or "people of the forest" in Malay, are the largest tree-dwelling mammals. Found only in Sumatra and Borneo, these intelligent primates are distinguished by their distinctive orange fur.Living high in the rainforest canopy, they navigate through the treetops with incredible agility, sustaining themselves on a diverse diet of tropical fruits and collecting water from tree hollows. However, orangutans face decline: their population has plummeted by over 50% in the last six decades, with more than half their habitat destroyed in just 20 years.
