For Open Planet, 2025 marks a critical year for scaling its impact in the face of increasingly turbulent planetary changes. Latest reports show 2024 is set to be the hottest year on record, while 84% of targets for the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals are off track for 2030, and misinformation and disinformation are ranked top of the global risks tracker.
By further growing and enhancing the Open Planet library as a valuable, accessible resource, together with establishing new impact partnerships, Open Planet can ensure everyone, everywhere, has the tools they need to drive real change.

In collaboration with CITES and Jackson Wild, the World Wildlife Day organisation used Open Planet footage to bring to life their 2026 World Wildlife Day celebration — a film shining a spotlight on the world’s medicinal and aromatic plants. The video has the highest reach on their Instagram platform to date totalling almost 18,000 views.
Co-producers of Ocean with David Attenborough, 10% for the Ocean use Open Planet footage to advocate for ocean protection on their social media platforms. In this video, intimate shots of creatures are used to draw viewers into the delicate waters that sustain us.
Produced by Open Planet Studios and supported by Silvania, this film demonstrates the powerful and transformative action that can happen when businesses, communities, and governments come together to protect the planet’s most vital ecosystems: the precious forests of Brazil.
Posted by It’s Live Ocean, this video supports Swim4TheOcean’s campaign to end bottom trawling in New Zealand waters. Using Open Planet’s bottom trawling footage, the film opens with a striking and confronting look at the destruction caused by the practice, before making a passionate case for change.
